ANNUAL MEETING INFORMATION

December 21, 2010

Arkansas ATEP Directors:

Attached below this letter you will find information regarding the various opportunities for athletic training students (undergraduate and graduate) at the 2010 Arkansas Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Meeting. After a great response last year, the student association has decided to offer the following programs at this year's associational meeting:

•  Ankle Taping Contest

•  Poster Presentation Contest

•  Guest speakers on a variety of topics

•  Election of Student Executive Board Officers

You will find information regarding these programs below with guidelines to follow for each. You will also find executive board applications for the 2010-2011 year. As a requirement of participation, some of the activities require that students pay annual dues by the first day of the 2010 annual meeting. These opportunities are available to undergraduate and graduate athletic training students.

We are also including information below about AATA and SWATA scholarships. We hope students will take full advantage of the help being offered. You will find a copy of the AATA scholarship application and a link to the SWATA scholarships. The deadline for all scholarships is March 1, 2010 and all applications should be postmarked by that date. Please refer to the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association website ( www.swata.org ) for more information regarding the SWATA and AATA scholarship application process. In addition, Ken Cole (AATA scholarships committee chair) at KenCole@saumag.edu , for more information regarding scholarships.

Letter to all AATSA Members

February 20, 2008

AATA and AATSA members:

Enclosed in this packet you will find information and forms regarding the Arkansas Athletic Training Students' Association (AATSA). The AATSA Executive Board, working in conjunction with the AATA, has put a great amount of effort into revising and updating the AATSA constitution. We hope that these revisions will create more opportunities for student (graduate and undergraduate) involvement at the AATA Annual Meeting. In addition, we feel that the constitutional changes will allow equal representation of the various colleges/universities with accredited athletic training education programs (ATEP) in our state.

The first pages in this packet will inform you and your program of the case study presentations that will take place at the AATA Annual Meeting on April 26 th . A separate page contains information regarding a student taping contest, also to be held on April 26 th at the Annual Meeting.

A letter is enclosed explaining the changes to the AATSA Executive Board. Also enclosed is a current application for the 2008-2009 AATSA Executive Board. This should be filled out and returned by any student seeking the position of president-elect, secretary, SWATA representative, or parliamentarian for the coming year. It is vital that this be returned by the April 11 th deadline.

A copy of the current AATSA constitution is available on the AATA website ( www.swata.com/aata ) under the Students section. A copy of the revised constitution is available by request, as this version has not yet gained approval by the AATA Executive Board. Please contact Sarah Walters ( waltsee22@gmail.com ) to request a copy of the revised constitution. Minutes of this year's AATSA Executive Board meetings are also available upon request.

The AATSA Executive Board hopes that this packet informs and prepares you for our Annual Meeting on April 26 th - 27 th .If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at the email addresses listed below.

Sincerely,

Jessica Leach, AATSA President Allen Crawford, AATSA Advisor

ATEP Directors:

In an effort to increase a more diverse AATSA executive board, the 2007-2008 executive board has proposed a new policy regarding the election of board members. The policy was passed by the AATA executive board at the 2007 mid-winter meeting which was held at the University of Central Arkansas on December 9, 2007.

The election of executive board members will remain the same as previous years. It is important to remember that the election is open to graduate and undergraduate athletic training students that are current members of AATA. The election of the following executive board officers will take place at the 2008 AATA annual meeting:

•  President-Elect

•  Secretary

•  SWATA Representative

•  Parliamentarian

The new portion of the policy involves the election of college/university representatives from each athletic training education program (ATEP) in the state. Each ATEP would submit one (1) student (undergraduate or graduate) to act as a representative on the AATSA executive board. The purpose of this university/college representative is to allow each ATEP to a have a vote on issues regarding the student association. The student may volunteer, be chosen by the program director, or the institution's athletic training student organization. Representative from the following ATEP's shall be chosen:

•  University of Arkansas

•  Arkansas State University

•  University of Central Arkansas

•  Henderson State University

•  Southern Arkansas University

•  Ouachita Baptist University

•  Harding University

Any institution that gains an accredited athletic training education program will be asked to submit a person to serve as a representative for their college/university on the executive board.

The AATA and AATSA Executive Boards hope that this new system will ensure that each ATEP in the state has a voice in our student association. Applications are enclosed for the four elected positions and are due no later than April 11 th, 2008 . Nominations at the annual meeting will only be opened if no one has applied for the position. The AATSA Executive Board strongly encourages any interested students to apply for the elected positions by the April 11 th deadline.

Please be prepared to inform the AATSA Executive Board of your institution's chosen representative at the AATA Annual Meeting. If your program does not plan to attend, please send the name, institution, phone number, and email address of the selected student to the address below before April 25 th, 2008.

If you have any further questions, please contact anyone listed below. Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you in Little Rock .
