Young Professionals Committee
Mission Statement
The mission of the SWATA Young Professionals Committee (YPC) is to identify and address the interests, needs and concerns of young athletic training professionals, while developing the future leaders of our association and facilitating open communication to and from all members of SWATA.
Goals
- To increase recruitment and retention of young athletic training professionals in SWATA
- To increase involvement of young athletic training professionals in the association, public relations and legislative efforts of athletic training
- To increase the number of young athletic training professionals attending the SWATA annual meeting
- To provide educational opportunities relevant to the interests and concerns of young athletic training professionals
- To promote the professional socialization and professionalism of young athletic training professionals
- To develop networking and advising programs for young athletic training professionals
Objectives
- Utilize several methods to improve communication to members: blog, Facebook, e-mail, newsletter
- Send a welcome letter to all newly licensed/certified athletic trainers to welcome them into the profession
- Provide information so that young athletic training professionals are informed about matters impacting the athletic training profession
- Develop a mentoring program
- Host Young Professional Committee workshops, sessions and networking events at the SWATA annual meeting
- Ensure communication and availability at SWATA Board meetings.
