Life Balancing Committee

The Mission of the Life Balancing Committee (LBC) include:

  •  To promote life balancing among the SWATA membership.
  • To provide a vehicle for addressing concerns about life balancing issues.
  • To provide and encourage mentoring and networking among the SWATA membership.
  • Research and prioritize issues of life balancing concerns for the SWATA membership.
  • Engage all SWATA members in problem solving with life balancing issues.
  • To provide all SWATA members with resources that will assist in finding healthy balances between the necessary and the rewarding aspects of their lives.

 

 

Areas of life balancing to be addressed:

Work Options (ie: flex scheduling, family leave, job setting options)

Personal Time/Leisure Time

Family Management (ie: marriage, children, single parent, elder care, etc...)

Healthcare for the Healthcare Provider

Financial (income)/Retirement

Skills (ie: time management, negotiation, personal leadership, decision-making)

Recognition

 

GOALS

  • Provide/endorse a speaker at the Annual SWATA Convention every two years
  • Initiate a mentoring Life Balancing workshop at the SWATA Annual convention
  • Include committee information on the web page
  • Encourage/provide the nomination of members for leadership positions and/or SWATA and NATA awards
  • Continuing to bridge a gap between women’s and men’s perceptions on similarities, differences, and needs with the profession and life balancing
  • To offer a network of support for all members in the profession in regards to life balancing issues
  • Compile a list of ideas/projects for each area of life balancing that needs to be addressed
  • Collect “success stories” on workplace management, maternity leave models, elderly care,  job setting options, etc. to be used by the membership to enhance their employment
  • Develop an online reference list of informational websites
  • Develop an information packet with concrete information and instructions to assist members with life balancing issues
  • Make contacts with and continually work with other NATA committees to pool resources on life balancing issues
