Bubba Wilson, LAT, ATC, CCISM is a Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainer with over 30 years’ experience in the Secondary, Clinical and Outreach arenas of Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. He is currently employed as an Outreach Athletic Trainer for Memorial Hermann Hospital System in Houston Texas. Since his employment at Memorial Hermann, he has helped to develop in conjunction with other specialist in the Memorial Hermann-Rockets Sports Medicine Institute Concussion Program, the Concussion Management Protocol and Return to Play Protocol for Public and Private Schools as required under Texas HB 2038. Mr. Wilson was also instrumental in the development and implementation of the first Heat Policy for athletics in Humble ISD.
Bubba is a 1990 graduate of Baylor University where he worked with both the football and baseball teams as a student athletic trainer. During his time there, he was fortunate enough to be mentored by Mike Sims, David Chandler and Skip Cox. Working as a student trainer at Baylor, created bonds and friendships that last to this day.
Bubba is a past Board of Director for the Texas State Athletic Trainers Association. During his service, he was also the liaison between TSATA and the SWATA Executive Board. He was inducted into the TSATA Hall of Honor in 2020. Bubba is also on both the TSATA Education and Licensure Task Forces. He is considered a Subject Matter Expert for and serves on the Exam Development Committee for the Athletic Training Licensure Examination through the Texas Department of Licensure and Regulation. He is a Past President of the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers Society. In 2014, he was inducted into their inaugural Hall of Honor Class. Mr. Wilson has additionally served on several committees for the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association. In 2016, Bubba was named as the District 6 representative for the NATA ATs Care Committee where he continues to serve in that capacity.
He is married to Melissa Wilson and they have one daughter, Morgan.
